My question is why would MB want to turbo the 240D? I would think that a
turboed version would use the same amount of fuel as a 300D if not more. The
only reason I can think of is in commercial applications where there is not
enough room for the 5 cylinder motor but more power was required.

All the reports I've had from mechanics (except for one ;-) say they

will blow the engine up sooner rather than later.

Obviously, a burned out charging light will cause that light to not come on

Well I ended up swapping out the alternator and that solved the charging
problem but my lights are still not coming on. They are not burned out
because after the engine was running turned on headlights to see if the
light out indicator came on(have a headlight out) which it did. What is

Carefully READ the factory warranty. That's ALL that Mercedes covers for
subsequent owners. Original owners MAY get a little extra coverage.
