I thought it was only a recall on the 450SL (that recalled from when my
buddy had his fixed) though they are the same part?

My 124 developed a freon leak which I cannot positively pinpoint (system
goes down in about 3 weeks). Suspect is the expansion valve. I put dye in
the system and have a vague notion that at the top of the valve is some
discoloration. The sniffer stays quiet, but when I hold it near the

While cleaning out my Daughter's garage I found two Cross bars (for holding
cargo on the top). She sold the wagon a year ago.
These are NEW and still in the sealed Mercedes packaging.
In checking with the Local MB Dealer was told they sold for $300 EACH (ouch)
and they are no longer in production.
I picked up a copy of WIS a year or so ago and I am still struggling
with it. The interface is not intuitive (to me), the search functions
suck, the graphics lack detail, and it has the look and feel of some
old application from the Cobol era that was ported badly to the
windows platform.

It sounds to me like the problem is possibly a sticking PCV valve. It
should be cheap to replace.

Let me know if you want to compare any readings with one that does not
have that problem. I can check in the evenings after my wife gets home
(it's her daily driver).

Howdy,
A friend has a '01 A4 Audi which is losing oil - usually all at once - also
there's the ocassional smell of oil - and puffs of smoke as his wife drives
away. Can't see any leaks. I suggested he keep the level at 1/2 beween the

And by 'old', I mean new. Sheesh.

Even with the key out of the car the blower runs. I've removed the ACC
control fuses (4&7 up front) and no change. I have not tried removing
the ACC unit and disconnecting it as I don't have radio keys at work.
I'm thinking that this is a blown blower regulator. Any other ideas?

Unlikely. I'd think you'd notice odd stuff with the ABS and SRS
