The pump sits in the washer fluid so it can't really lose prime. I've had to replace these a couple times, in each case they just died suddenly. Fortunately they're pretty easy to get at. Do you have a trouble light? If not they're cheap at FLAPS. If the motor isn't running unplug the motor,
