YOu should have kept that POS SDL I sold you oh so long ago.  Engine was fine, 
IP was trashed.

My vote at the moment is coked up intake valves or pre-chamber.  Have you 
removed them and reamed the hell out of them?  Or, it could be the dang auto 
adjust valve thingies are tired.

HE will learn in a few weeks that these cars are no longer the hot items they 
once were.  The BioD parade has marched on, the cash for klunkers killed all 
manner of cars, and WVO destroyed the rest.  The VW fiasco has soured the 
market here, and now the anit-president feelings are taking all the effort of 
the locals.   Maybe by 2025 there will be a spike in interest in the OM 617.

Not sure how minimal the coinage will be to bring that 300D back.  The fan boys 
have pretty much left the house on those cars.  To get one sold, it really 
wants to be a #2 or 3 condition.  That w123 has fallen to parts car status 
unless there is some fellow with a stack of parts stowed away in hopes of 
getting himself more w123 goodness.  The diesel folks are really only 
interested in a manual 240 or turbo 300D so they can daily driver it.

So this time I ended up splitting the order between the 2 vendors and saved a 
little money that way. Both ordered at same time so will see which gets here 
faster. This way I was able to get my delivery valve seals while still getting 
free shipping from both. I just bought specific items from whichever was the 
cheapest.

Highly doubt it's got a plugged fuel tank strainer. Will check for air leaks. I 
have not checked timing or chain stretch but I can say car has plenty of power, 
just the miss at idle.

I am putting together an order and I always add the same parts to both 
sites to see who comes out the cheapest.  Sometimes it is one, sometimes 
the other.  I can say that importec tends to have some parts that FCP 
does not carry.  Here is an example.  I can locate delivery valve seals 
on FCP at all using both their menus and a direct part number search.  
When I plug in the part number to importec they come back at .43, this 
is the copper washer.  The o rings do come up on FCP at $1.19 each.  
They come up on importec at .16 each.  Quite a difference.

Make sure you don't have an air leak in the suction side of the lift pump 
(plastic filter and fuel pre-heater).  Air getting in will cause all sorts of 
idle problems and eventually hard starts.

Somewhere I have a copy on CD that Marshall Booth sent me.  Funny story,
shortly after I joined this list back in 2002 or so, and I realized that
the CD was missing that section and some others, I popped a blank CD in the
mail with a nice letter asking Marshall for an electronic copy (or paper if
that was easier).  He didn't know me from Adam, and wondered how I'd gotten
his mailing address (he used to list his university work address in his
signature line, I address the package to "Prof. Marshall Booth").  After a
bit of back and forth about who I was and how I'd gotten his address, he
sent me the CD with copies burned on it.  I guess I was a little too
forward?

I don’t know… that W123 could be flipped for a minimal amount of coin/work.  It 
looks pretty nice.  I tried to get him to sell me the wheel covers but he won’t 
part it out.

I am not interested in a w123.  The SD had some fellow out of PA show semi 
interest, but owner wants it gone, not willing to wait for winter to end for it

If you shop around you can find the URO versions for less, but those sellers 
hose you on shipping, so it ends up being a wash.

to around $75 recently.  If I can find Bosch ones for that much or slightly 
more, I’ll go for the Bosch.

It is on the 126 CDs but not on my 123 CDs. Look in section 40 
front axle and see if yours are the same. A telling clue is that 
the 123 index from Steve Nervig's service manual index does not 
list them but the 126 index does. I have to conclude that they 
are not there in the American version I have and which I assume 
Steve used to do the index. I had to go in and edit the index to 
include the new PDFs that Craig sent me and are in German but 
that doesn't matter to me. I did note that the pictures in those 
PDFs are very nice and clear. I wish the ones in the version I 
have were as good.
