Re: [MBZ] OT - desktop hard disks
My WD Mycloud Mirror 8 TB NAS has been running for nearly 4 years without any problems. Bonus...it runs the DVR software for the network so I don't need to keep a PC running for that. When I bought it from the Wimmen Warriors I paid less than the cost of the 2 drives, so I'm content with the result so far. No doubt YMMV. No qnap experience but my Synology boxes are all still ok. I had one disk failure on a ds211j that coincided with a power cut before I put everything on ups. I would look for a possible external cause for your qnap problems. Two fails is too many. I'm using Apc smartups on my systems (from excessups). Cheap ups don't work well with my standby generator which puts out over 63 hz at low load. On Mon, Oct 8, 2018, 21:16 OK Don via Mercedes wrote: > The second QNAP TS-328 has died now. Take it apart and remove the brushes. Go to your local Ace Hardware and look for the aisle with their “majik drawers”. They have a majik drawer that has small motor brushes of all types and sizes. Re: [MBZ] Buying Used Vehicles
I only do CL deals in the parking lot of the local sheriff’s department. They promote it as a safe place, since they’re all around and it’s got loads of CCTV cameras, too. When you get there you can walk in and tell the desk sergeant why you’re there and they’ll keep an eye on things. Met the buyer for the S430 there and he thought I was nuts. I asked him if he was comfortable going to a place he was unfamiliar with carrying many thousands of dollars in cash. Then reality set in. I have a concealed carry permit, but I still wouldn’t do a deal with major cash anywhere else even if I am packing. -D > On Oct 8, 2018, at 4:35 PM, Rick Knoble via Mercedes > wrote: > > > Craig inquires: > >>> Gotten bad enough around here most people >>> only want to do deals in front of the police. > >> Where is "here"? > > Anywhere in the US, around any medium sized to larger metropolitan area. > > And no, I'm not being facetious. > > Rick > > > > ___ > http://www.okiebenz.com > > To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > > To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: > http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

[MBZ] Advance Auto/AGM Battery
Oy. The E320 wagon has been acting flaky the last couple of days, and today it acted like it wasn’t going to crank. Got home from work, put it in the DAS, which immediately complained about a low battery. Checked the battery (factory MB standard) and saw the date code was for 2005. I think I got my money’s worth out of it. Went on Advance’s web site, blew through the application, found a promo code for 25% off, placed the order. Got to the store and discovered that their application showed an H6. Wrong. Cancelled the order, made another one from the store, waited for it to drop and finished. AGM H8/group 49 cost me $155.61 out the door. Sniping the sales before they get to the gift card table is the way to do it. Just stand on the sidewalk outside the so-called 'buyback' site with a sign that says "I pay more for guns". Then make somewhat low offers on the decent stuff and tell the holders of the junk where the line begins for the $50 gift cards. Well according to the technical data book, ratio is 2.65 for both 124.133 (300D Turbo) and the 124.193 (300TD) so looks like I won't have to trouble you with shipping that diff Fred. Max. I wish you lived closer, (or VV) so that you could have the leftover diff. from my 1987 300TD. [MBZ] ?Size of brushes for HVAC Blower motor, '95 124?
Anyone know what size the brushes are? This is for my '95 124.131 (E300 Diesel) HVAC blower motor with the filters. On the spare blower motor for my '87, the brushes look like they are 8mm by 10mm. If I could find the blower motor for sale without the fan blades for the same price as the non-filter type motore (about $90) I just get a new motor, but I've only been able to find them with the blades installed for $200 and up for a brand name that isn't Uro or some other off-brand. - Max Charleston SC ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Maybe it was always a hot mess and I've only realized it recently? Don't know. The junk I've been seeing through my local craigslist and the numbers attached to it, complete with the grammar issues and bad information. The last vehicle I put up on Craigslist was a couple of years ago. Stayed up for full term, and I re-posted. I'm not selling a new car, sure, but a good solid driver with a $1000 price tag. All day long emails coming in "Give you $200 for it." I'm sure you would. *I'd* give $200 for it, and I'm the one selling it. *sigh* Then we haven't even gotten into the car deals that have "gone down" where the guy buying shows up with the cash, and the guy selling leaves with the cash, and the car. Gotten bad enough around here most people only want to do deals in front of the police. My wife is far past the point of "Don't ever use Craigslist again, ever." I like to lift the rear end with a big floor jack under the differential, then put the jack stands under the rubber pads that are under the factory jack holes. I'd recommend putting both jack stands in place so you don't put a twist on the body. Re: [MBZ] Jack Stand Positions - Rear- 1991 300D W124
Thanks - I'll take a look at the WSM and/or Parts Diagram to make sure I'm familiar with the LCA's in the rear. Are you suggesting I use the outer LCA mounting point? IIRC that's kind of rounded, isn't it? I am thinking about raising the right rear with the floor jack (it's in good condition, only about a year old) and remove the RR wheel so I can show my wife where to put the Jack Stands. I know not to work on a car that is raised on a jack, but I will put the removed wheel/tire on the ground under the chassis to minimize how far the car could go if the worst case happens. And it will only be like that until I can spot the Jack Stand position. Should be OK. I tend to err on the side of caution. Thanks for the suggestion LT On 10/08/2018 2:45 PM, Kaleb C. The strange thing is there were 2 80 300SD’s listed, this one was pure sale, the other looked like it could be fairly decent but had a mild hit in the front that only appears to have pushed the front grille in a little bit. It looked like it had been sitting outside for a while. It was also a donation vehicle but was being sold on approval. I’m betting these both came from the same place but not sure why they listed the nicer car as pure sale and not the other. Maybe they figured it would get a lot of bids. I wanted to bid both but my account only lets me do one at a time and I wanted the nicer one more. The first one they went across the block was the wrecked one with the reserve. If I had bid on it, I would have had to wait for seller to approve it or counter, which would have locked me out of bidding on the 2nd one. The first one went for $80 on approval. I’m betting it turns back up in the next week or 2 then I can pick it up. Could be a nice BAT candidate. Re: [MBZ] Jack Stand Positions - Rear- 1991 300D W124
There should be some pads or points right under the jack holes in front of the rear wheels, put your stands under there. I have a bunch of blg wood blocks too to stack under the frame which gives me a good feeling. --FT On 10/8/18 12:48 PM, Larry Turner via Mercedes wrote: Hi ya'll, I hope to start removing the rear wheel bearing carrier soon now that the weather is changing for the better. I know where the jack goes but it's been a while since I had to put jack stands under the rear of my 91 300D. Even when I could lay on my back and look for a good place to put the stands I recall having trouble deciding on the best location. Bearing in mind I'll be removing the hub & carrier, where should I try to put the jack stand? (I will have to explain your answer to my wife who will lay on the driveway) I may move the MGB to the drive so we can work on the 300D in the garage, will decide soon. ;-) she's a keeper! Right now, I only plan to jack up and use a stand under the right rear. Suggestions? Re: [MBZ] ***SPAM*** Yesterday's Gun Buyback
hey, I wonder if a private citizen can "buy back" guns? Maybe set up a card table on main street? I guess I'd need to run NICS on myself as the buyer? ;-) LarryT On 10/07/2018 1:34 PM, Dan Penoff via Mercedes wrote: Okie server always strips my attachments, but I can see them….g. Re: [MBZ] ***SPAM*** Yesterday's Gun Buyback
people are dumb. I'm thinking that pistol would go for over $1000 on the open market, probably more. wonder if it was used in a crime? or maybe the person who turned it in is dumb?
