[MBZ] Triple A
I know some folks here have AAA towing insurance. How does that work? I've never had it. Since I occasionally drive a W210 to work (46 miles one way), I realize if this goes into limp mode, I have a rather large tow bill to get it back home. I had the alternator quit the other night on the way to work, and it is in the parking lot at work until parts arrive. Yeah, the voltage regulator is a maintenance item, and I should have changed it preemptively. Oh well. you need Blizzaks on the rear at least, and one sand tune on each side in the trunk. you will be AMAZED! MY diesels will go ANYWHERE in schnee/blizzard conditions, and have for lots of year and lots of miles. When I drove long distances almost every day in all conditions, I put Blizzaks on all 4 corners. It seemed as though it would even climb a tree so long as it was covered with schnee. Actually they have great weight distribution if there are passengers or cargo. with only and driver and no pass. you need 2 sand tubes in the trunk. The huge difference is in the tires. Time to install sand bags in the trunk, along with tire chains for drive wheels. In the old days, when I lived in snow and cold country with pick up trucks [empty truck beds have no load weight over drive wheels] always carried sand bags stacked behind wheel wells in bed of truck, Ratchet straps around the stack to keep them from shifting.. Worked quite well. If you get stuck, open a bag of sand and you have instant traction... if you need it. [MBZ] I poke a hole in my 116 SD radiator
I was moving the SD from the shop around back to park it in the barn. When I pulled it in the back I needed to swing it around thru the pasture to get it in the barn. The pasture is soft right now so I was going at a fairly good clip to keep from getting stuck. I hit a dip but didnt think much about it. When I got it parked in the barn I heard fluid pouring out. When I popped the hood I saw I pushed the bottom of the radiator back into the fan.
