That is strange, I have never had any issues clearing codes with DAS.
Maybe 99 is some strange year between DAS and HHT.  I think all modules
on any 163 I have worked on have been accessed with DAS, but 01 and up
is the only ML I have worked on.

finished the job today, new CP, filter, fluid, etc. drained the torque
converter too.

I put the little iCarsoft scanner on it and cleared all the solenoids codes.
Drove it, still stuck in 2nd. H. I’m wondering now if this scanner thing
does not actually reset the nanny. When I did this job on the 99 E320 I used
the Star computer and it got the nanny reset. I’m gonna try the computer and
see what’s up on that box.

I have a TCM in the wrecked E300, same 722.6 tranny, I can try that if It is
still acting up

Re: [MBZ] Well poo.

2020-05-30 Thread Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes
I “cleared” the codes (it was contact problems with a bunch of solenoids which
is usually the conductor plate although I guess it could be the cable or TCM)
with the iCarsoft, it said they were gone. I put the DAS on it and found them
though so I guess the little unit did not clear them even though it said they
were clear.

DAS was trying to do something with HHTWIN but there’s no 163 chassis choice in
there. I got back into the main DAS and could see the codes from there in the
trans ECU scan. I tried to clear them with the DAS but it said it couldn’t.

This is making me crazy.

You need Xentry to clear tranny codes, not sure if car soft will do it. In any
case were the codes related to conductor plate? You probably would not know
that for sure either without Xentry.

Re: [MBZ] Clear coat thinner?

2020-05-30 Thread G Mann via Mercedes
Before you go adding a thinner, confirm what the paint actually is...
Almost all the modern auto paints are water based [due to EPA VOC [Volatile
Organic Compound] Rules which bans sale of VOC based paint].
If the clear coat paint in the "kit" is a material that is partnered with
the base coat... likely it also is thinned the same as base coat...
Check material... then proceed with correct thinner.. Suggest you will
want to contact supplier directly to confirm details.

Shoot some Fluid Film on it from the backside, maybe that'll help prevent some
rust. I've found Fluid Film (or Wool Wax which is pretty much the same stuff)
to be pretty handy to have around. It does smell like sheep for a couple days
but thats a pretty small price to pay I think.

about a $4-50 car all in. The buy it now on this one is $1500 which after
auction fees is around $2200.

price used accordingly.

And because some of us are cheap.
