We see plenty of people from south of the border here legally, visiting
family. One of my patients right now is here on vacation from Mexico. But
he probably got it here. We have plenty of covid on our side of the border
to account for what we are seeing.

Actually, all the new cases are from there being far too many cases around.
Since I'm half way through a case myself with no known exposure, I can verify
it's very contagious.
The more people have it, the more it spreads, just like any contagious disease.
The death rate is going up because

Yes we can shift a lot of resources around. But you have to realize it
means nothing else is getting done. All elective surgeries are cancelled
until further notice. All of our anesthesia residents have been temporarily
assigned to ICUs, along with every other qualified fellow (cardiology etc)
