What does it mean that a MY 1985 car was "imported" in December 1984? Must have 
been imported as a new car, is this in any way different from any other 500SL 
that was old here? I mean they were all made in Germany, so any of them found 
in the USA were "imported"?

According to VIN, the original color was CAVANSITE BLUE METALLIC which you can 
still see inside the door frames, so this looks like a wrap that could probably 
be removed if you wanted this car which is at least $5,000 overpriced according 
to KBB.

The issue is not the lights per se (although the lighting nanny will not 
like the extra power draw and will want to tell you there are various 
faults if you plug stuff directly into the light circuits). For my 163 
ML I got this thing that basically sees the voltage going to the various 
tail lights (via some of those clamp-on connectors) then sends power to 
the trailer lights through separate power so it is not in the nanny 
circuits.  I'm sure there is a similar item for whatever flavor his ML is.


The biggest issue is that the brake and stability control sensors will 
feel the trailer back there and the nannies will go insane trying to 
compensate for it.  That is why you need to get the towing nanny and get 
it working in the overall system.  The 163 does not have this "feature" 
so it is kinda indifferent to the hitch and load, other than the lights.

others. They don't last and it's more or less down to luck who sees it and acts 
first.

Likewise if something looks reasonable but has been for sale more than a few 
days there's probably something wrong with it or it's actually overpriced.

Interesting but also a bit of a letdown.  I wanted to brag to my friends
that I was close friends with a Tucker owner.

If the car doesn’t have towing setup you will have to try to add the nanny and 
get a new controller happy. It is not easy. The brake and stability controllers 
and the lights will not be happy without the tow nanny.

My boot drier has an ozone setting, purportedly to de-stink your boots. I used 
it in my Dodge RAM when it had a water leak a couple years ago. Worked pretty 
good.

A week ago I took all the assorted junk out of there and scrubbed it with 
Simple Green. It smelled okay immediately after but the Power Service stink 
came back pretty quick. Saturday I made up a packet of coffee grounds which I 
hope will absorb some of it.

There was a roll of wrenches back there that was greasy with the stuff, I 
brought it home and scrubbed it good with Dawn dish soap which helped a little 
but less than I had expected. I'm thinking Power Service isn't water soluble. I 
may go back and scrub with carb cleaner.

Looks pretty solid and the price is right. Lots of time and effort to 
refresh it. And I can’t be running down to Phoenix all the time to
