BTDT, but in a small vehicle. The owners manual for the F150 says to replace all five tires every 7 years regardless of tread wear or condition. Being cheap, and not seeing any cracks in the sidewall, and since they live in a garage most of the time, I'll wait until next year (10 yrs since new) to replace them. I just replaced the 9 yr old original battery today as preventative maintenance. Folks Tuesday, I was hauling a 6700 lb forklift on my rollback isuzu from Tybee to Denmark SC. I thought I had checked everything .. I aired up the 19.5 inch tires and inspected. Right after I reached Ft Pulaski … about a mile on the marsh causeway to Savannah, I heard a POW and flap flap … right front tire blew…. I made a turn in the used to be 3 lane road, now 2 lanes with truck and trailer and slowly limped back to Tybee on the rim ….I dumped the truck Ar a friends place which was closer. Yesterday I used my groovy torque multiplier gizmo and loosened the 41 mm lug nuts that were I am sure, over torqued. The factory spec is 350# and I say why so high? Anyway, I think my tires have aged out …. I bought some Walmart $190 delivered tires that were $140 about 14 months ago or less. Still waiting on a delivery …. Go to a welding shop and get them to make it for you. Pretty simple shape. They can cut the slot with a plasma cutter in a couple of minutes.
