It was a curt adapter I believe.

Yea I am just going to seal it, I already ordered a kit. When these
tanks are new, or under normal conditions, are they coated with
something that keeps them from rusting? Or is it a case once the tank
does rust and you clean it off, it will then rust again very fast? I am
just wondering

The bare steel will rust quickly; you need to either put gasoline in it
(I think), or seal it. Probably sealing it would be better.

I have been working on this tank on and off for a while. I used vinegar
and got it pretty clean, but I do not think its clean enough yet. I put
some drywall screws in there and have been shacking it around on
occasion and will rinse it out with water again. It seems like it was
clean but
Yea, I suspect it’s shorted inside the plug itself. Might not have needed to
replace that module but will see. If the plug is good I’m just going to have to
trace it back I guess

Ugh.
My brother’s SDL got a short in the trunk light, and we had to run quite a bit
of wire to fix the damage.
Trace back the harness, likely the hot wire melted some insulation all along
the way, and you have some shorts in there.

Yep, it does, and you would think it would only go in one way. However
if you try hard enough, it will go in just fine upside down. With these
adapters they sometimes do not have a big enough of a tab to prevent
this. Its not hard to get it in upside down but goes in smooth with it
correct.
And pardon my asking, but was this with a 7 pin (round) trailer connector?
Those have a rib on the plug that will only allow it to be inserted into the
socket one way. I’m confused.

I figured out what she did. She managed to plug the adapter in upside
down which sent the 12 volt acc straight to the ground of the 4 flat on
the trailer. It burned that wire all the way to the frame of the
trailer. In looking at the adapter, the 4 flat ground is fused to the
adapter and I

panel has an angle in it so flat ones from other models won't work.
Sadly we left the cover on the side of the road in Maine after jacking up

It’s not at all. I’ve rebuilt domestic slushboxes some years back, and other
than what you point out, it’s not a difficult job at all. It doesn’t even
require any specialized tools for the most part, basically a good pair of
expanding ring pliers.

I haven't worked on a transmission it but seems to me the biggest things are
cleanliness and keeping track of all the parts. If you are methodical and
organized and not in a hurry it doesn't seem too intimidating.
