Didn't end up being too bad. Took maybe an hour to get the intake manifold out,
could do it faster a second time. Once that was out removing the alternator was
easy.
Took a few photos, this one shows the gear-like toothed wheel that drives the
alternator via a rubber coupler (alternator has

doors lock except the driver door. The drivers door will not lock with the fob
or the push button on the console.
So I reckon that’s a get in there and replace the actuator?

believe these had M117s, right?
I never warmed to the design, it seemed boat-like and clunky, like a stylized

Dang. That is a sweet one, and it’s even a stick!! I didn’t even realize it
until I was reading the description, I was so taken with the car in general.
$20k? I’m thinking this will pull some nice coin.

Yeah, those big diodes don’t come cheap. We used to buy them by the box. On the
big machines, you really can’t tell when one diode shorts unless you’re an
experienced welder, I was told. When I would get them in with bad (shorted)
diodes, you could usually tell as the bead would spatter and
They are getting scarce. Most people think they are million mile/5 figure

The AC ones are still pretty cheap, and AC/DC one is usually 3-4x the price of

They really shouldn't be permitted to advertise things like that as
"Mercedes".
I did see a similar one this morning on the net that had a Mercedes
drivetrain - in Australia.
It had an AT and the owner was asking about swapping in a manual
transmission.
