Well, Hendrik is in Oz where it does not get so cold as here.
In the dead of winter, I am essentially unable or unwilling to do much
for myself. We sometimes get 2 or 3 weeks where the temperature does not
get about minus 30C. That puts stress on a vehicle and is a common time
to have issues.

I've often wondered why a tach is ever present on an auto car, whats it good
for?

Ford actually had a better idea (wasn't there an ad campaign like that
once upon a time?) My F150 has a little errow pointing left and "fuel
filler" or some such similar wording in the dash by the fuel guage..
If one is feeling forgetful, one can look at the dash before pulling up
to the pump.

On the downwind leg, you were supposed to go 90 mph and on the upwind
leg, you should have kept it down to about 40 mph and you might have
done fairly well.
