I just put a new EGR valve and a new Idle Control Valve in my 1990 300SE - but
I still have the same problem they were meant to correct. It starts fine when

Hello,
I have my 1990 300SE back in the shop. It stalls when idling, especially after
warming up, usually at intersections, etc. The repair shop tells me I need an
Idle Speed Control Motor ($420) - installed for $510 - and an EGR valve. The

Dear Mz Friends,
I have an offer to replace a head gasket on my 1990 300SE at $1,000. How does

The heat and AC both began to fail intermittently about a year ago. Sometimes
they would work and sometimes not. A local auto technician thinks it's some
sort of control valve that he thinks (but isn't sure) is located either under
the dash or under the hood. The dealership service advisor

Hello,
I've removed the front brake rotors from my 1990 300SE (126) with the
hubs/bearings intact. I got the allen bolts out but haven't been able to
separate the rotors from the center hubs. I wonder if I could get some advice
on a couple of things.

2. I examined the front brakes thinking it was a rotor that needed to be
turned. With the wheel off, I turned the rotors but they seemed to run true
with no scraping or visible variance while
Inspection time is here again. Last year, the inspection station failed
my 300SE on the emissions test. I tried driving it out before returning
for a retest and it failed again. How did another station pass it? Don't
ask. How can I prepare for the emissions test this year? What are the

HA! And they charged me something like $275 for a new controller because mine
was worn out. + Labor of course.

Well Zoltan, we only differ on one fine point I wouldn't undo any of
those badass things I did when I was a young buck back then. They were fun -
yeah making life miserable for a day for some whining grownups who were

I have no technical knowledge of the system - none at all. But logically, it
seems to me that the IP bears a relationship to the O ring with the IP exerting
pressure and the O ring providing resistance. For example, if you were to
remove the O ring altogether, what would happen? It's obvious,
