Re: [MBZ] '79 300CD - speaking of slow
I saw a clip on the net last night relating to that British car show with Jeremy what's his name. They were talking about cool cars and he was test driving an early XKE Jag and an Aston Martin DB5 and commenting on the claims of the makers back when they were new. The Jag, it was claimed would top 150 mph and the DB5 was supposedly over 300 HP. They are on a track of some sort and he is running around squealing tires a bit etc. Then a new Honda Accord pulls up along side and he advises they are going to compare it with the cool cars and that the Honda is a 2.4 - so the 4 cylinder version. They all take off and the Honda runs away from the Jag and the Aston Martin. He says, how can that be and then he says THEY LIED. The Jag won't do 150 mph and there is no way that the AM has that much HP. It was cute. Then he gets into the fact that there are companies that are re-doing these cars so that they will perform the way that the makers claimed they would. So, be warned - don't necessarily think your Honda can blow off a Jag.
