BTW, when you did the 300D rear shocks did you secure the springs?
When I did my 91 rear shocks I did /not /as I never saw a need to do so 
on the rear before.   When I looked over the WSM sheets they cautioned 
about securing the springs - I guess I got lucky as nothing happened.   
but the WSM made it sound dangerous.


I know of the danger in the fronts, just got lucky I guess --

Also finally got around to installing new shocks on the rear of the 
300D -- quite an improvement in ride with a great reduction in noise, 
I may enjoy my drive to work every day now.   I certainly will enjoy 
the 30 mpg over the TE's 20!


Later this week we will tackle the right rear wheel bearing on the TE 
along with the spring link bearing (the left one had no boots left, 
seriously corroded, right side makes at least as much noise).  
Probably need to replace the right front wheel bearing too, its 
thumping, I think.  Could be just the rear, but I doubt it.

Put a used half-shaft in my brother's 300E today, cured the vibration  
on the highway.  Inner joint had some radial play and clicked, outer  
joint freely extended in and out at least an inch, unlike the used one  
we installed.  My niece is working 40 miles form home, needs a car  
that isn't going to toss an axle on her on the highway.
