Have you seen "The Power House" on the old Navy base? We should buy it from
North Charleston and turn it into a dance club. I'll send a picture later.

Just my point. Some of he switchgear and instrumentation looks more modern
than the early 1900s. I suspect it was updated at some point in the past.
Those are not 90 degree gauges from the early 1900s. Gauges of that vintage
would have their pivot points at the bottom and be round.

Looking closer I can see “1958” in the lower left corner of the meter. That’s
more likely.

It's unfortunate the reflection from the windows is right where it is.
There seems to be a manufacturer's name, but I cannot make out what it is.

It is cool. I especially like the architecture of the building.

Interestingly, looking at the distribution gear, parts of it appear to be more
modern than 1912. The protective relaying that’s in the switchgear looks more
like 1930s vintage stuff. (Protective relaying is the little glass door covered
boxes on the panels of the distribution gear and provides sensing for things
like overvoltage, overcurrent and reverse current.)

I really like the building too. Something about old industrial
buildings with proper architecture... I still remember a building along
the NYThruway near Albany somewhere (maybe, I forget exactly where) that
was a pump building or something, white block or concrete or stone or
something, with big tall windows, every time I would drive by I thought
how beautiful it was.

The engine is about 25 percent lighter than the V10 in the previous
car, and it makes less power too, just 532 horsepower. But it's
morefuel-efficient http://www.wired.com/autopia/tag/fuel-economy/. The
car's new six-speed transmission is controlled electronically, not
pneumatically, to save weight.

Its a 10hr race. If you can get 5 or 10mpg more out of it..
