Re: [MBZ] What to do for fun when its 12 degrees outside

2005-12-09 Thread Bob Rentfro

Sweet!

I remember back in the day having to have a snow shovel as an integral part
of my tool box.
My most memorable winter escapade was when it was -2 degrees with whipping
winds lying on the driveway in front of my dad's shop disconnecting the
driveshaft out of a one ton Dodge van so I could pull it behind the tandem
axel Vactor shit sucking truck my dad wanted me to bring to him in Arizona.
The previous day I had cut my thumb down to the bone on a meat slicer
(ahhh...the old days of owning sub shops,,,) and, while I had ski gloves on,
I had the slip of the wrench and I bashed that thumb up against something
unyielding. My hand was suddenly quite warm.In a few minutes I was having
trouble bending the fingers in that hand because the blood was beginning to
freeze inside the glove which was soaked in blood. I had to walk across the
street to the old sawbones and have him thaw the glove off in warm water,
then stitch my thumb up. Once sewn up, we took off from Peoria, IL on our
journey to Phoenix...but it took 9 hours to get to St.Louis cause of the
snow. Very stressful trip.

Wanna bet? I've got the snow cleared away from the car, and this fancy
new carbide hacksaw blade that I can't wait to try out.

It is actually pretty nice out there. I spend all night outside at work
(single digit temps last night), so working on the car in the daylight
feels like lazing on the beach in Kaanapali by comparison.

It's in the trunk; Krystal broke it a few years ago. Since it is on the

Re: [MBZ] What to do for fun when its 12 degrees outside

2005-12-09 Thread Curt Raymond
The first year I had Hammie the glowplugs went out. It took 2 days for Rusty to
get me new ones. Temps averaged in the 30s that whole time. To get him started
in the morning I'd run the blockheater for an hour and then drag him to the top
of the hill in our apartment complex and roll down. If that didn't work we'd do
it again. At work I just left him running.
The day the glowplugs arrived it was 5F... I changed the 3 it took to get him
going again and had my Indy change the last one.

Now that we have been dipping into the 20's here in Nashville, the
