It is not that bad. I was told to stay in the hotel between dusk and dawn. I did. But I wandered around on the streets in the daytime with no ill effect. One of the taxis was a 300D. That was nice! The Brits called it the jewel of the nile. I can see why. I'd go back in a flash. The people are VERY entrepreneurial. The Merkun people could learn from them. In stead of whining like a smellit, (i "only make a few Million a year") they get out and hustle. Even if it is only roasting corn in an old MB wheel o n a street corner or selling broken glass, the people are out trying to earn shillings. The most wonderful climate I found was the highlands of Guatemala. The coasts were a humid torment unless you were on the water with the breeze. Up in the valley it was mostly sitting at 18c with the really hot days getting to 22c. Nights might drop to 14c. Winter in the uninsulated house, if a polar vortex were active, might get it to 8c, and then there might be hypothermic tragedies. Just snuggle under a wool blanket with a fire roaring in the hearth. clay monroe > I turned my computer upside down and shook it, but the bookmark for what I'm > looking for didn't fall out. > On Mar 26, 2019, at 8:52 PM, Curley McLain via Mercedes > wrote: > > I loved living in Volcano. I loved living in Volcano. That is at 4000' too, but about 19º North. In a house with no insulation in the winter, I froze. The house would get colder than the night air. Most nights, I turned the dryer on and sat on it to keep warm. But the spectacular views, the spectacular blue sky, tree ferns and clean air made up for it. Volcano is where I could literally hear the grass grow. Every morning when I went out into the warm sun, I forgot about freezing the night before! At some point its the heat.Back 10 or so years ago now I spent a weekend in Burbank. There was a sidewalk art festival on so I took a stroll, had a beer with lunch, it was nice. Got back to the hotel room and just felt bad, my joints hurt, I had a headache. On a hunch I got a bottle of water and chugged it, started to feel better almost immediately and started sweating noticeably. "Ah ha! So this is what the early stages of dehydration feel like."I'd never been anywhere that I could overheat and not have my shirt soaking wet. -Curt On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, 4:37:47 PM EDT, Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes wrote: It’s not the heat it’s the humidity --FT Sent from iPhone > On Mar 26, 2019, at 4:34 PM, Dan Penoff via Mercedes > wrote: > > 60s at night right now, high 70s/low 80s in my neck of the woods.
