Try getting a used fan and swap it out. (Car-part.com Should be $25 or less) Could be a bad porcupine also. Max can tell you about testing the porcupine. Basically, power and ground in, modulated power out. should be full power on defrost. What about the tube and sampling fan? is that i

The systems with the translucent AUTO button don't have porcupines, they have a separate fan control relay box (behind the glove box) and use a resistor pack under the hood. Plenty of places to go wrong. The PBU is reputedly designed to not have problems with any manner of simultaneous button pu

Good luck in getting the buttons to work properly. Currently I have to punch the button next to the defrost button to get the fan running, and then punch the middle or button on its right to get hot or cold. Spraying the buttons mechanisms with Deoxit improved the situation but I still have to

If it has the acc 3 with puchbuttons, I think it does. But I don't know. Never drove a 123 300D on the road. I don't think a 123 has a voltage regulator "porcupine"? I do think that removing and testing the fan motor is next. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD '95 E300 On March 10, 201

The W123 has a resistor network up by the air filter housing somewhere I think (I'll check with my brother). At least somewhere up front on the passenger side, as my brother had to fix his where the car got hit. If the connections at the resistor network are bad, the fan will work intermet

For anyone keeping track, I changed out the PBU with a spare I have and the same thing occurs where the interior fan does not come on when the Hi-speed fan and middle (lower) PBU button are depressed after the car is started but the fan will start when the defrost button is depressed, so it look

The odd behavior which I described previously does not occur when the fan is on and hitting any sort of bump, the fan does not come on after restarting the car (e.g., when running errands) when it's ptreviously been running but seems to come back on after 2 or 3 restarts. And, yes the #8 fuse w
