Dan/Kaleb/John/Gene/now Kaleb again 190D and usually look at Kumho;s,
but in the size for that car these General Altimax tires had better
ratings, longer warranty, and were a little cheaper so I ordered them.
Just arrived a little while ago and

I've got the HPs. Stick much better than the crap that was on the car, but
rolling resistance went up with the new tires. I don't know if it's from the

I used my bubble balancer on mine, smooth up to about 70, think as fast
as I got up to. Probably fine for older cars but a new one like yours
probably needs to be spin balanced.

I don't have the tools to do it myself, nor do I particularly want to...

Although it would be nice to have balanced tires at the moment. These
tires start acting funny somewhere above 45mph. At higher speeds (80+ mph)

Ron,
I put a pair of KH16's on our Passat and they've been fine. MIght be a bit
more crisp on turn-in than the Kumho HP4 Ecstas they've replaced.
The KH16s have about 6k on them. Do well in rain, but can't report on snow
yet. The HP4's were decent for an all-season tire.

Not sure if they're the same model you're referring to, Harry, but I
have Continential Touring Sport Contacts on my 124 and while they
corner nicely and are quiet on the freeway, they wear like crap.
They've got less than 10,000 miles on them and the tread looks half
gone, which I find
Alex, I've had good luck with the ones on my Benz but I have heard a few
comments regarding how they wear. Guess it just depends on the vehicle and how
a person drives. I'm a bit of a agressive driver, but again sometimes you have
to factor in the vehicle and suspension which makes a difference

Then why not increase tire pressure so the wear is more even
across the tire?
