A wonderful Christmas day.   Listening to Hawaiian Christmas music while 
making Jambalya and baking cookies.
Did group therapy yesterday.   Good fun.  Put a new holgraphic on the 
new metric upper.  WooHoo!

You need to get those fixed and on the market before the used car bubble
bursts and prices drop down to where they should be or lower.

Get some 40mil protective film and apply, that way when they turn foggy and 
brown again you can just peel off the film and put on fresh rather than polish 
the lens again.

I did one repair on my Golf and then bought glass covers to replace the 
plastic.  Vastly superior.  Don't know if there are glass replacements for that 
car though.

My mom used to have a bottle of carbon tetrachloride that she bought at the 
local drugstore. Would clean stains on almost any fabric.

NLA 'cause it's not the healthiest thing to have around the house.

Clean carpets and upholstery, a wash and wax, and spotlessly clean glass all 
make a huge difference in the appearance of a car.

Yes!  I ordered 4 bottles and it did work pretty well but there was just so 
much dirt and stains I had to throw the whole arsenal at it. Thanks for the 
recommendation, I think it is really good stuff. It did do very well on some of 
the stains. 

I made a vid of the process I need to edit and I’ll post it.

Thanks!  It’s really gratifying to rescue a nice car and bring it back to life. 
It cleaned up really well, kinda surprises me how good it looks given what it 
looked like when I picked it up. If I have time tomorrow I will give it a quick 
wax.  Body and paint are in very good shape for a 18yo car, very few scuffs and 
dings.  Then work on the other seating areas and get that detailed. I wish the 
seats were a bit nicer but that’s how those things get. 

Gotta get the rear bumper glued up where it’s cracked too.  I’ll take it off 
and put some fiberglass and epoxy on the back as best I can. I want to get a 
hood star too, that little badge thing is lame.

getting sorted out. It really looks nice, getting the headlights polished makes 
a huge difference. I have 3 more carpets to clean and detail those seating 
positions. The driver area looks pretty good for probably never having been 
cleaned in years.  Some of the stains wil never come out.  I should get plates 
on it this week and drive it a bit to enjoy.

I often considered buying the raw materials, but I do it so rarely it’s just

I had one of those kits I bought a coupla years ago but I had mostly used up 
the paper so I ordered a box of discs 800 1000 2000 3000 5000 from the CCP 
(Banggood) and a whole package of foam pads of different types (maybe 
coarseness I’m not sure) and some fleece pads.

So I put the disc holder in my drill and went up the grade 1000-5000 then put 
on a fleece pad and used some rubbing compound I’ve had forever then did a 
final polish with some cleaner wax. They look close to new. Pretty amazing.

Keep it wet with soapy water to clear the stuff away, wipe it down between the 
steps. Gonna hit the engine bay with the pressure washer (will keep it from the 
electronics) then give the car a good wash. The driver side carpets and door I 
cleaned yesterday evening with the steam cleaner and drill brush looks pretty 
good too, not new but hugely better. More to do on that.

The E320 wagon has one new headlight but the old one is next as it’s getting 
cloudy too.

I used to see them frequently for that or less. Used to see 210 e430 all the 
time for that as well. Used to be able to pick up a decent 124 400 for less 
than 2k. Should have know to have bought some while they were cheap.

Maybe semi bottom feeder. I have moved up a little bit from the $500 cars. In 
fact, sitting in there in the shop taking a break from cleaning and organizing, 
I’m looking at over $60k worth of cars that are waiting for various repairs. 
Many of them I got for bottom feeder prices. Some of them I paid up for such as 
the 1 owner 60k mile 116 300SD I paid $3500 for and the 85 300CD I paid $2k 
for. I can only imagine what I could sell those 2 for if I simply did the few 
minor things they did and cleaned them up real good with some good photos.
