I just got this little guy a month ago after owning various gassers
and its a real treat to drive, one question I have, the temp gauge
doesn't get past 60c and oil pres pops right up to 3 and stays there.
These are probably trivial but I've taken an interest in this car
and will be asking lots of

Seems a bit low, I think your thermostat should start opening closer
to 70C.
My 190e, which seems to be operating properly, struggles to hit 70C in
freezing weather, peaks out at about 75C on a hard freeway run. I think
it uses a
Assuming 3 is the top of your oil pressure gauge, then that is what it
should do. You might see a drop at idle, and that too is normal, especially
if you are running the list-recommended (by many) Mobil 1 oil.
Not sure about the temp gauge. It should get to what the thermostat calls
for and stay
My 190D reads just like my 240D did, just a bit above the 80C mark. Sits pretty
consistantly once its come up to temp.

Mercedes designed the oil pressure gauge to only read the low end of
the scale, and to peg at normal operating pressures. It varies between
the different engines, but there is a lower limit for oil pressure at
idle for an engine at full operating temperature. The Mercedes
technical data book for
I just found the section on engine cooling - the thermostat in your
engine should begin opening at 85C +/- 2, and at 94C it should be open
8mm.
This is a fascinating little book.

You should check the actual temperature of the engine, but likely the
thermostat is bad. Right side of the engine, not bad with a non-turbo.
The oil pressure gauge pops up to 3 bar when you turn the key on? Wire
shorted or bad pressure sender, its below the oil filter housing, check
wire.
Yes, my 190D runs the same temperature, and I understand that it's too low
which can affect fuel mileage and engine wear. I need to get a new
thermostat in there.
I have been wondering, though, is that middle mark between 80 and the lowest
mark indeed 60? You never know how gauges are laid out. ??
