It is likely that a cheap capacitor replacement will fix it.  It's just a
real pain
to get to the capacitor!

You have to un-crimp the chromed front bezel to get the clock apart.  Not

The clock is not a ticker, like all modern quartz clocks.  It uses an
oscillator
to drive an old-fashioned synchronous wall–clock (plug-in) mechanism.  More
mechanical motion and wear, and more energy used.  Works pretty good,
though.

The one in my 220D was less accurate as time went on.  I needed to synch it by 
10 minutes each week.

The capacitors can bee swapped out, which may handle the timing issue.  There 
also seemed to be a gearing issue, where it was skipping a tooth

I've never seen/done a 115 but I repaired the clock in my '83 240D back in 2003 
when I first got it. It still worked fine when I junked the car in, geez I 
forget now, 2010?

[MBZ] clocks?

   What do we know about old Mercedes clocks? The one in my 115 300D 
worked flawlessly until this summer. I never had to reset it. It would 
sit in the garage all winter and be right on time come spring. Now, it 
will not hold the time at all. Seems to be getting worse. It would be 
out by 5 minutes or so earlier this summer. Today, it is out by hours.


Do I remember some info from a while back that suggests the capacitors 
give out and can be replaced?

And tomorrow at sunup the sun is due east and tomorrow at sunset it is 
due west, so you can calibrate your timepiece.  It might also be fun to 
get naked and do some sort of dancing and singing at sunup, party all 
day, and then do something debauched at sunset.

DUH.  Good point.  No, but pretty far south in the US.  You can still do 
the other stuff though.  I guess you could also use your sundial to 
determine your latitude tomorrow, with a bit of trigonometry.
