I noticed that the spread is only $0.20 at a station I looked at yesterday,.
Seems like if was $1.00 not long ago.
Anyone think there may be a return to the good ole days?

I saw the spread at $0.10 early last week, but it was $0.50 yesterday.
I doubt we'll see the good ole days again, but I'm getting more
pessimistic in my old age.

$3.35 and 3.99 before the last hurricane (ike) they way up for
gas. Now $3.35 and 3.89 Still 55cents difference here.still kind of
a tossup for fuel cost. But Diesels still win for reliability IMHO

On my calculator, -- = 1.647, so it's about 65% better.
You are right. How I came up with that percentage is beyond me. Which makes
those gas engines of the period look even worse. The present 20% separation
will be narrowed next year when MB's direct injection engines appear. They are

Common rail direct injection.it's been out here since 98. There's a
new-ish gasoline injection system called FSI or something. Uses a direct
injection principle I thinksupposed to improve fuel economy
somewhatdon't know much about it but I see it around often.

I thought we were talking about gasoline. CDI is a common-
rail DI engine. Those have a single high-pressure fuel
supply rail and gate-valve injectors, solenoid actuated
I believe. Those have been around awhile. The OM352 in

Its way out of control. Its been going up 10 cents every couple of days
here lately. It really sucks when you drive 200+ miles per day, 5-6
days a week. Im giving some serious thought to quiting my autotrader
job and contrating more on parting out cars.

Hi All,
Normally, this would be a no-brainer - I'd buy the diesel - but with the
increase in diesel fuel and the price differential between E300Ds and
comparable E320s, I'm having trouble seeing the best car to buy.
Here's the deal: my wife has a 4 day/week, 100 mile round trip commute.

Regular gas is $2.46 and Diesel is $2.38 today - looks to me that the
