[MBZ] Electrical problems

2006-06-08 Thread Roger Conlon

Hello,
I have a 87 300SDL, I'm wondering what might cause the number 5 fuse to blow
when I

put the car in reverse, it only blows then,
I can start the car in neutral and select drive and its ok.

I can tell this because the A/C- blower stays running.

The fuse designation chart lists fuse #5, as a 8 amp white fuse
that controls the following
back-up lamp, heating water valves, water pump, climate control syst, relay
aux fan term. 86,

aut. transmission electrics, blower motor inside temp sensor,
air condition compressor, electromagn. clutch/valve air injection.

I also have another problem that my blinkers and flasher do not function
this is control by the #2 8 amp fuse which is good because my clock
functions.

It controls

diagnostic term. 6
hazard warning system, clock
front roof light electronic radio,
vanity mirror light,
electr. illum. control

It did blow the fuse in the back of my Becker radio.

Any help info would be great.

Thanks
Roger

Shorted backup light bulb.
Bad neutral safety switch (on tranny).

Cycle the hazard switch a whole bunch of times. They get dirty,
this takes out one or both functions. Disassembly and cleaning
is common here. If bad enough, replacement is required.
