The guy with farm in his username had a $100 digital torque meter with
peak hold that he used for testing penetrating lubes. Practical Farmer?

I wouldn't know where to go to get a torque wrench calibrated.

And probably could not be done for the cost of a new one, if they are selling
at $15.

Enclosed info sheet claims 4% or better accuracy, recommends recalibration
every 6 months (I don't know if that assumes daily use or what -- it would be
unusual for me to use the wrench more than a 6-8 times a year, really.

If you're happy with the results of your beam-type, you can use it to
"calibrate" your HF wrenches. I have a couple of the HFs, they seem ok.

I own 3 of each, 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 ...[all part of "go bag" tool kits] and have
put them all to good use with no complaints. No failures and while not
certified to aviation test standards, close enough. When I got them [bulk

test them against a tested and certified torque wrench. They all were
within a couple pounds of the cert wrench. Good enough.
For the on sale price, a bargain. HF now treats their tools like Craftsman
used to, it breaks, you walk in, they give you a new one, no grief.

[MBZ] HF Pittsburgh torque wrenches, any good?

2021-07-24 Thread Allan Streib via Mercedes
I have a 1/2" beam-type torque wrench. I like the simplicity of it but it can
be hard to use when the wrench position has the scale facing away from me. I
have been wanting to get a 1/2" and 3/8" click-type for convenience. HF has
their Pittsburgh brand wrenches on sale right now, wondering if anyone has
experience with them? I have some other Pittsburgh hand tools and have found
them entirely adeqate, at least as good as modern Craftsman tools.
