Made all the papers and TV and turns out the pol has a 2nd home up there somewhere, and said he was getting stuff for the house (on a Sunday evening at the last store before the border). Liar! Lack of any border control between states and lower cig taxes in NC and SC are the reasons for mucho "smugglng" of cigs from south to north on I-95. NC legislature discussing going back to tax stamps on tobacco products.
