Anyone have any Hirschmann 6000 (I think) carcasses laying around?

I ask because the antenna in the 300SEL works, but the big nylon gear that
grabs the tail of the mast is worn and as a result doesn’t consistently move it
up and down. I think the teeth are worn off of it.

So I’m trying to see if I can find a parts donor that I can just scrounge the
gear(s) off of. I have a later Hirschmann for the W140s, but it’s a different

2013-09-13 Thread Frederick Moir
Larry T, Gary, et al.
Problem solved. It weren't the olde farts hobbling speed that was the problem,
it was the extreme curl on the plastic rack.
Said curl would not go through the hole at the bottom of the mast tube. A
little straightening with hot water. e viola! Muzak! (*RTM).
Thanks for all of the helpful suggestions etc. Polite and otherwise.

Re: [MBZ] Hirschmann Antenna

2013-09-12 Thread MG
First turn the key and the radio on and set the antenna switch to
full. Two, go to the trunk and unplug the antenna motor plug
after it quites running. That puts the drive to fully extended.
Three turn off the key. the motor won't run to retract because
the plug is disconnected. Four start the nylon into the hole.
Then reach into the trunk and connect the motor plug, that should
start the motor to retract the antenna which will pull the nylon
rod into the body. Since you are right there no more running.

Folks.
Has anyone here figured out how to put a new mast in an
Hirschmann electric antenna? Other that an Olympic grade sprinter.
It times out before I can get around the car to insinuate the
rack into the tube. Frustrating!

No. It was not retracting the antenna, even with a new mast. I tried to
increase the roller tension.

That was 5.5 years ago; I don't remember why the spread in time stamps.

We started shipping one of our packages (customers on all OSs) in
.tar.bz2 format a few years ago. Originally someone came up with a
Windows package to extract, but what with 7zip and the newer WinZips

Oh. I forgot about that. I don't supposed anyone would be up for a gzipped

If I remove the smaller version of each picture (useful for web pages) and
the extra of the new Hirschmann I installed in our W123, that still leaves
30 pictures.

I remembered I took pictures of ours when I was working on it. I made a
ZIP file and sent them to Kaleb along with pictures of other things I had
worked on on our W123:

Alternator.zip 940 kB
Axle.shaft.change.zip 1.6 MB

Fuel.tank+sender.zip1.2 MB
Hirschmann.Antenna.zip 5.1 MB

Vacuum.system.zip 261 kB

Re: [MBZ] Hirschmann Antenna - Black Box

2007-06-02 Thread Hendrik Riessen
The size of the screwdriver blade is important, too small and it will break
the plastic and too big and it won't bend the plastic back far enough.
The trick is to get one or two undone and then wedge a small screwdriver in
the partially opened sction, otherwise it will close up again. There is no
great mystery in opening the case but just take it easy.
Also once the lid is off make sure not to lose the three small grommets that
hold the mechanism in place, there are six in total.
Overall the Hirschy is a straightforward design and anyone with some
mechanical abilities should be able to take it apart and put it back
together.

Usually a small screwdriver can be used to gently pry the tabs back. Be
cautious so they can be reused. Just bend enough to clear the lower part.

Good luck -

[MBZ] Hirschmann Antenna - Black Box

2007-06-02 Thread Michael Esh
How does one open the Hirschmann Antenna Box? I pulled it from a 1984 300D
Turbo. It has a 16 about tabs all the way around it that hold it together.
Does it take special tool?
Thanks in advance.
Mike
