In one of his tool tear-downs, AvE gave a good review to the Harbor Freight "Earthquake" impact wrench a while back. At the time these were made in Taiwan. Might want to check before buying that is still the case and they have not switched it to mainland PRC. On Tue, Jun 13, 2023, at 05:40,

I've got a Makita 1/2" impact, it's the "big one" for 1/2" drive and pretty powerful. A couple months ago I had to replace a front wheel bearing on my 2015 VW Jetta. It's a unit bearing and the nut just laughed at my Makita so I brought out the Aircat 1/2" drive air impact which also couldn't

I’ve got a harbor freight electric 1/2” impact driver that does pretty well up to a point. I’ve been using that. It managed to get most of the bolts and various nuts off. I have a pretty good 1/2” Sears (ingersoll rand) air impact that has more torque but the big compressor is in the garage and

My '84 190D had the front wheels torqued so tightly that they warped. I ended up taking it to a guy who had a 1" drive impact wrench normally used for big trucks. We had to use a couple adapters to get back down to the right size and were worried the adapters were going to break. Still got 'em

I managed to get the front wheels off the ML350 parts car. I think the bolts were cranked to about 200+ftlbs as I had to stand on the bar and jump a bit with my 194lb container. Got the transfer case, transmission, and torque converter off the engine. I am told those were fine when the engine

I have a bunch of “private” knackers around that specialize in European cars, but their prices are just stupid. LKQ isn’t too far from me, but it’s worthless. There are “lot rats” that strip anything and everything of value on cars as soon as they come in, no doubt to resell on eBay. So
