Hmm. The 73 Series III I had was,an electrical disaster. Once I got rid of
Lucas-prince of darkness- electrics in favor of Bosch. Frames, rusted under
aluminum bodies. Fun to drive but money pit.

$90 is about what a modern Lan Drover is worth. Maybe $100 at the
crusher if you deliver it. They are true PsOS, as with britjunk of the
earlier decades. The old Lan Drover of the 60s and before had some
redeeming features, It was like a Model T, in that many problems could

There is a reason they are so inexpensive. They are ticking bombs loaded with
very expensive parts waiting to fail. That said, if you find one a very good
condition at a reasonable price, jump on it. The owner may have taken care of
issues as they arose, leaving you fewer gremlins to chase
My mom bought the G because she was obsessed with safety and liked the looks of
the thing. She now feels silly driving it and sort of regrets purchasing it.
She says that it exudes a silly Kardashian image. The truck is very nice and

Not many choices if you leave the Asian cars out of it. She does realize that
many of these are now built stateside, isn't she?
I know a guy who is an indie that sees a lot of Rovers. He says every time one

We have a LR indy sales place a LR/Jaguar dealer here in South county

direct descendant of the series III. They are scarce spendy or i would
have one.

Well, I went to prep school in Fairfield County, CT - not my choice and I've
never driven anything but a MB or BMW. To claim that I don't have any yuppie in
me despite my very ethic name would be rather hypocritical. So I'm OK with the

Yes that is a good thought. I'll start looking into those. They appear well

The X5 kicked MB's heiney in the looks department.

Those are built in SC now. I toured the factory and did a day at the track.
The factory is notable for a relative dearth of humans.
Good ol merkin iron now and no union involvement at the final assembly.

My major problems were electrical since it had electrics by the Prince of
Darkness. As in old LR joke - why do British drink warm beer? They have
Lucas refrigerators. Once I changed electrics to Bosch replacements was
better. I assume newer ones don't have Lucas.
It probably has Magneti Morelli elec-tricks.

Avoid the Buick V8 versions, the cylinder walls crack and the sleeves
come loose with very bad results if even slightly overheated. Do not
buy one made before Ford took over (although most of those are in
junkyards already).

No. the issues were mostly minor and cosmetic, and have likely already been
fixed by now. I had a 2001, that I sold the Kaleb when I dumped all the old
cars last year. It was fine.
