Re: [MBZ] Mercedes pickup

2015-03-28 Thread Jim Cathey

The load of manure I hauled a few years ago would not have
been welcome in a T. The old Chevy drew that duty. The
_two_ ECO-blocks I brought home in the Dodge would have
strained a T's capabilities, to say the least. A truck
is often well worth having.

If you need to haul people, get a sedan. If you need to haul stuff,
get a truck, if you need to haul both, get one of each.

However, when we're hauling a 3000# camper, the extended-cab
full-bed truck is just the ticket. It also generally gets
better mileage than anything else we drive. (Campered it gets
in the 12-15 range, up to 26 unloaded on the freeway.)

The only thing it's bad at is knocking around town. It's
big. Hard to park. I would never choose it as an only
vehicle, but it's a great second vehicle.

That MB pickup is just too weirdly styled for my taste.
The bed also looks rather small. I think what I might really
like is an El-camino'd 107 SL. That would be fun!

Do you have a utility trailer like Wilton and a hitch on the back of at
least one of those wagons?
If not, I assume I could out haul you with my pickup truck without much
trouble.
Try putting a full size refrigerator in the back of your wagon - or
maybe a box spring and mattress etc.
I truly believe that the full sized crewcab pickup trucks that have been
produced over the last 15 years or so are the best vehicles on the road.

Fast, quiet, utilitarian etc.

Depends on what and where you want to haul.
If you need to haul a long distance at high speed on the interstate, I
doubt if a Unimog is going to be high on your list of possible vehicles.
On the other hand, a full sized pickup will haul a pretty good load at
high speed for hours on end and be pretty comfortable along the way.

Mercedes has doubtless been eyeing the profit margins on the loaded-up

Do you have a utility trailer like Wilton and a hitch on the back of at

If not, I assume I could out haul you with my pickup truck without much

Try putting a full size refrigerator in the back of your wagon - or maybe
a box spring and mattress etc.
I truly believe that the full sized crewcab pickup trucks that have been

I just hauled 2000 lb. of river rock for my wife earlier this week - hard
to do even with most utility trailers. I have never figured out the crewcab
pickups for anyone other than a construction manager. If you need to haul
people, get a sedan. If you need to haul stuff, get a truck, if you need to
haul both, get one of each.

Yes it does. I presently own one as part of the Ford Diesel truck set of 5.
Owned two previously. Loved them.

The last one I bought is the Lariat model which has every luxury option
known to man, including electrically adjustable brake peddle so that along
with the 6 way power leather seats you can fit the truck to yourself
perfectly... It is however missing the auto nose pick and auto butt
scratch option. :))
