Back a million years ago, I drove up to pick up my sister at Purdue
in our old 1968 Ford wagon with a 240 six cylinder.
Last year I made a trip to LA. Going over, driving into a wicked headwind,
got 40 mpg in the TDI Jetta. Driving home, wicked wind to my back, got 51
mpg. Seriously. I checked my math twice.

I've never measured/documented the wind effects on fuel economy
before, so
thought this was cool.
A tailwind is a serious boon to fuel economy!
