I have been amazed at the huge disparity in gasoline and diesel prices around
here. While gas is currently selling in the $3.50/gallon range, diesel has been
nearly a dollar more a gallon up until the last week or so. The last few days I
have seen it drop down to around $3.30/gallon in some places.

Oh, and the place I trust most had dropped to 3.49 yesterday. The

feel sorry for him, because he has high priced fuel in his tanks and

The rationale for charging more than a seller paid for the goods he is
selling is that he must sell his (cheaper) goods at the current (more
expensive) price which he will have to pay to replace them for the next
round of selling.

That argument, however, should indeed cut both ways. If the seller can
buy more goods less expensively, he should sell his existing stock less
expensively.

Gasoline has been falling significantly here, but diesel is slow to
follow. Diesel has been at 3.499 since before 12 November, but regular
gasoline took another drop to 2.399.

It costs about the same to drive our '89 Chevrolet G20 Beauville Van
(3/4-ton) as it does our '82 240D/3.0 (but the 240D/3.0 has a dead
battery which I have not yet replaced and the receiver hitch on the van
is serving as an anchor for chain which goes over a sea container on
our driveway to hold up our utility trailer which I am refurbishing).
