Follow up: AC guy just left. Nothing I did disturbed things, it was pure chance. “A” coil has leaks and the system has leaked down to the point where the low pressure switch won’t engage. Looks like the coil is warranty but I’ll have to cover the labor. Easy R as the unit is right in my garage

Next most common issue is the start capacitor. After that, a slow leak would let the refrigerant level drop below the compressor cut-off limit, and then no cooling. I've not had a set of contactors go bad, but that is a possibility. - Max Charleston SC On Tue, Dec 17, 2019 at 9:08

Thanks, I already looked them up. And yes, I reinstalled the old thermostat and I get the same results. No cooling, air handler runs and the outdoor unit sounds like it's running, too, at least the fan is. Maybe my compressor contactor decided to take a dump? Or the capacitor? Meh. At this

What happens when you put the original thermostat on? How many wire system was the old?    The new?   there are 2, 3, 4 and 5 wire systems.  You will have a 4 or 5 wire i'd guess, but one house may be 4 and the other 5. dan--- via Mercedes December 17, 2019
