True, but if the valve is closed there's no flow, so the lines are going to be
cool at best. That's why checking the hoses to the heater core won't really
mean anything unless you know you have flow.

Unless it was super cold you should have reasonable heat in 15
minutes. I think this condemns the thermostat.
Not if the heater VALVE does not open.
If the engine temp is normal , then the t-stat is probably ok.

'92 should be old enough to work on yourself. Find the heater hoses where they
go through the firewall and find out if they get hot. Might also see if the
radiator hose coming out of the thermostat gets hot
AC BLOWS ICE COLD!

the hose. most are. Some, like the 110,111,112 MB chassis have the
valve in the heater)
