The problem with substances that are toxic to the liver is that you can destroy
seven-eighths of your liver and never know it, but when you begin destroying
the last eighth and the damage starts showing up on lab tests, pray that you
can find a liver transplant someplace; with the odds against it.

Give Arnicare a look. It's an old Homeopathic med that has been used since
before Rome was in power. A company called BOIRON makes a product called
"Arnicare Arthritis" . If you have a health food store near you, likely
they will have it.
I use it to some good effect, others I've steered to it have had success as
well. Might work for you. It's doesn't interact with other drugs, has no
side effects, etc... so pretty safe to try.
It is a natural anti inflammation so works at the source of arthritis..
[fancy latin medical word meaning "inflamed joints"]

When I was a kid, people used to rub DMSO on their joints.
I seem to recall somebody saying that WD40 was Kerosene and DMSO back then, but
I just looked it up and it seems to be mostly Naptha. Anyway, I can't find any
reference to sulfates in WD, so I doubt it used DMSO for a penetrating
additive.

I agree with Curly. Stay busy doing "something", and every time thoughts about
pain in your wrist pop up, put them out of your mind. It won't be easy at
first, but the more you put something out of your mind, the easier it gets.
Remember the principle of building good habits: "Try and fail, try and fail,
try and succeed." You want to replace the habit of thinking about the pains you
have with the habit of ignoring the pains you have.
Hope this helps,

I agree 100% with Karl.

pain is all in your mind.   If you will it away, concentrate on what you
want to do, the pain becomes background noise.   Not in one minute, not
in one day if it is serious pain, but over time your mind learns to
ignore persistent acute pain.

Re: [MBZ] OT Calling Tin Man Mao

2019-05-09 Thread archer75--- via Mercedes
It may be a little early to write off magnetic therapy, Andrew.
It's been demonstrated that it works when applied to the brain; it's in regular
use; the government has approved it; and health insurors will pay for it.
There is a good bit of research pointing to its efficacy. It's use for wound
healing and other medical issues continues. For example:
..

The Effect of Magnetic Fields on Wound Healing
Experimental Study and Review of the Literature
Steven L Henry, MD, Matthew J Concannon, MD, and Gloria J Yee, MD

Abstract
Objective: Magnets are purported to aid wound healing despite a paucity of
scientific evidence. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of
static magnetic fields on cutaneous wound healing in an animal model. The
literature was reviewed to explore the historical and scientific basis of
magnet therapy and to define its current role in the evidence-based practice of
plastic surgery. Methods: Standardized wounds were created on the backs of 33
Sprague-Dawley rats, which were divided into 3 groups with either a 23 gauss
magnet (group 1), a sham magnet (group 2), or nothing (group 3) positioned over
the wound. The rate of wound closure by secondary intention was compared
between the groups. Literature review was conducted through searches of PubMed
and Ovid databases for articles pertinent to magnets and wound healing.
Results: Wounds in the magnet group healed in an average of 15.3 days,
significantly faster than those in either the sham group (20.9 days, P = .006)
or control group (20.3 days, P < .0001). There was no statistically significant
difference between the sham and control groups (P = .45). Conclusions: An
externally applied, low-power, static magnetic field increases the rate of
secondary healing. Review of the literature reveals conflicting evidence
regarding the use of magnetic energy to aid the healing of bone, tendon, and
skin. Level I studies are lacking and difficult to execute but are needed to
define conclusively the role of magnets in clinical practice...snip

Re: [MBZ] OT Calling Tin Man Mao

2019-05-09 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Exactly. There was a good segment on placebo research on Morning Edition this
morning. It was pretty cool, as the researchers found that even telling the
patients they were getting placebos still resulted in them feeling better. I
think it’s a series they’re running, as I heard another spot on the same thing
earlier in the week.

https://www.npr.org/2019/05/09/721685197/placebos-may-be-a-powerful-tool-that-medicine-has-overlooked

There was a doctor (orthopedic surgeon) who did a study on patients with
arthritic knee pain. One group got surgery, the other got nothing, but went
through a “mock surgery” with an incision and OR activity for the same length
of time that the actual surgery would have taken. He even went so far as to run
a videotape of the surgery in the OR for the patient to watch as if they were
the ones being operated on.

The placebo group reported as good or better results than the patients who
actually had the surgery.

He reported his findings to the orthopedic community and it just pissed off his
peers, mainly because it was the most common operation many of them were
performing….

Even if it's the power of placebo the results are what matters. If it works for
you that's good for you.

I iced religiously to hasten healing of both L and R rotator cuff
surgeries, along with using a Nikken magnet. Currently icing lavishly and
using magnet on my partial right knee replacement. Doc says I am WAY ahead
of schedule in terms of range of motion and lack of serious discomfort.

GO ICE
GO MAGNETS
