The point I think he was making; when you buy a so called mint older car,
you will still have issues with it. Once you get into it, it's not uncommon

These were, and are great cars. This example looks like an effort was made

On the plus side it has *ice cold air* but on the other hand the SR needs
fixin'. I always like to ask this kind of seller what would it take to
make the car 100 percent perfect? That usually generates a more candid
assessment of the vehicle...

Nobody makes these cars 100%, that's why it's best to try and find one
that's been kept as close to new as possible, and always properly maintained
and serviced. Even then, it won't be perfect, but it will be an old, pretty
reliable car.
To make it 100% perfect, I don't know, I'd say $40-60,000.
That's not what I mean. There are a lot of little things that are important
to me if they are broken or not working. I do not care for a list of what's
right with a vehicle because that's always going to be skewed from the
seller's viewpoint. I want to see a list of what's currently in need of

What I find to be a very good point of reference, was advise what was once

equally applies to any higher end car. He said, once a car is 10 years or
so old, even if in good overall condition, allot 10-15% of the cars

It's often said, that 250,000 miles is nothing for these cars. But

It all depends on who does the work, too. If a shop is involved, then
parts are 2x what you can get them for from Rusty, plus labor.

Methinks the sound would be the giveaway.
If you have a bottom end knock, trust me, you'll know it.

I think you have to use a sliding scale, with mileage and age. Also, if
you're talking about a SEC, 25% would put that on average around $1000 bucks
alloted for repairs. No way you're going to address all the things that
most likely need attention on a SEC of that age and mileage, with that kind

Bottom line, there really is no way to run either of these cars on the
cheap. I think the best way to have a fighting chance, is to stay away from
these cars that look like deals, and buy the very best one you can find, and
pay for it. It will still cost you money to run, but nothing like trying
