Re: [MBZ] Pressure filler -- has anyone ever used one of these?
I like them so much, I actually own several, and keep spare vane sets in case they need rebuilt. So far, after 10 years of frequent and abusive use, they are still pumping as new. The pump bodies are stainless, the impellers are nylon and individual vanes, so actually well designed. I do take care to always only store them clean, so they are ready to use for whatever comes next. The addition of a 12v switch at the pump, and 20 ft of good low voltage wire from the yard light section at home depot, with nice battery clamps well identified [red and black for +- ] are worthwhile mods. I now keep them in their own tool bags, with zip lock bags of various fittings, and rolls of different size hose, which makes them a "grab and go" item. There are no 20% anymore. There's one that ends today. https://www.harborfreight.com/12v-dc-transfer-pump-290-gph-63324.html Here is what I have been using for over 10 years to move fluids. Costs less, and runs on 12 volts. Ace Hardware sells bulk vinyl hose, you add barb fittings to the pump in the size you need, fabricate whatever you need to attach to what you are pumping fluid into, and drop the pickup hose in the desired fluid to be pumped. I used low voltage wire [home depot, in bulk] to make an extended power cord [ 20 ft, in my case], and added a 12 volt on/off switch at the pump, so I have easy control of pump / not pump. Once I'm done pumping, I treat the vinyl hose as disposable, so no cross contamination on next use, of another fluid. List of things I have pumped: Engine oils, new and used, various weights. Transmission oils, various weights, automatic, and manual transmissions. Rear End oils... various.. I've also used the pump to suck diff oils out, then flush the pump and reverse lines to pump new oil in. [mineral spirits to flush] Diesel fuel... tank transfers, priming filters and injectors, etc etc... Antifreeze... Other stuff as it may arise... like brake fluid... I routinely use the pump at the bleed valve to suck all the old brake fluid out of the line and master cyl reservoir, on each wheel, then fill master with fresh fluid and have a clean system. I made the garden sprayer brake bleeder (did Wilton post that first?) and it works great. I now have another one for aircraft brake fluid as well. Yes, dedicated pumps for each fluid. Re: [MBZ] Pressure filler -- has anyone ever used one of these?
I have read about people making the same thing with a cheap garden sprayer, which you can find for < $20. That Motive one looks exactly like their pressure brake bleeder I have, with a different fitting on the end of the tube. I love the brake bleeder, would never want to bleed brakes any other way. Best not to mix fluids though, so good to have a separate one for each type of fluid (brakes, transmission, etc). I'm planning to try the garden sprayer aproach next time I need to do a transmission fluid change. Sounds better than messing around with a long-neck funnel. https://smile.amazon.com/Motive-Products-1735-Power-Transfer/dp/B0119DI58A Makes adding fluid to the 722.9 easy, can use pressure instead of a hand pump on the fluid bottle like I got for filling diffs. I wonder if something can be bodged up to use it like a brake pressure bleeder too. There seem to be many different versions, this one is US made and looks basically like all the others. I need to get the filler adapter too, it screws into the bottom drain hole and you hook this thing to the filler tool then pump the fluid in https://smile.amazon.com/HZ-MONSTAR-Transmission-Compatible-Mercedes-Automatic/dp/B08Z7WYW6P FCPEuro have the trans kit with filter and fluid for $119, I need a kit for each the $900E500 after I get the new CP and the $1200ML500 to see if that cures the bad shifting. -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
