606NA gets better mileage than the turbo. EPA figures are not pessimistic for
the w210. I do not know what they did to mess it up, but the W124 OM606 has
power and poise, as well as economy. The 606 in the w210s I looked at were
anemic and the cars sloppy. Is that build issues or age?

I was able to cruise at 85mph and get 36mpg doing all day trips a few summers
ago. All highway. I was able to fill the tank and go at least 660 miles
before the needle fell to E. Only once did I hit the reserve light and that
was a 690 mile day. 95 E300
w210 has the same size tank, but
What are you going to do with your e300? I might want to buy it.

Theres a reason I specifically want a TDI, I commute 56 miles each way to work.

Oooh, Aspen Green over Saddle leather, my favorite!
I bet clay would be all over this one if it were in Seattle.

EPA says 23/31. In a Jetta that'd be a 2002/2003 and EPA 35/44 and I could get
a manual transmission which I prefer on principle.
Anybody with turbo 606 experience want to comment?
I was under the impression that it could at least equal a W124 2.5 turbo on the
freeway.

Will a W210 do 30 MPG?
I'd be surprised if the turbo OM606 didn't. The '95 diesel W124 with the
NA 606 easily gets 30 mpg, and the 210 chassis has a significantly better
Cd than the 124 (which was no slouch in its day).

Yep.
Can't believe I did that.
If Curt really cares about fuel cost, he could always get a first generation
Insight with stick shift. 65-70mpg on 87 octane gasahol.
Mitch.

it the benefit of the doubt that 35 is quite
possible, still pretty low when you drive 112 miles a day.
