It is likely that a cheap capacitor replacement will fix it. It's just a
real pain
to get to the capacitor!

I have a W115 quartz clock that's just collecting dust on the shelf. It's
yours if you want another one to play with. "Ran when parked" :-)

You have to un-crimp the chromed front bezel to get the clock apart. Not
Fun,
not if you want to do it cleanly enough to get it back together again
afterwards.
The clock is not a ticker, like all modern quartz clocks. It uses an
oscillator
to drive an old-fashioned synchronous

The one in my 220D was less accurate as time went on. I needed to synch it by
10 minutes each week.
The capacitors can bee swapped out, which may handle the timing issue. There
also seemed to be a gearing issue, where it was skipping a tooth

Yes and yes.
I've never seen/done a 115 but I repaired the clock in my '83 240D back in 2003
when I first got it. It still worked fine when I junked the car in, geez I
forget now, 2010?

What do we know about old Mercedes clocks? The one in my 115 300D
worked flawlessly until this summer. I never had to reset it. It would
sit in the garage all winter and be right on time come spring. Now, it
will not hold the time at all. Seems to be getting worse. It would be
out by 5 minut
I don't think I could handle all that other stuff, but call us at sunset ...

DUH. Good point. No, but pretty far south in the US. You can still do
the other stuff though. I guess you could also use your sundial to
determine your latitude tomorrow, with a bit of trigonometry.

You live on the Equator?
Mitch.
Or party all night tonight, dance at sunup, sleep all day, dance again
at sundown and party all night after. Harder to do.

And tomorrow at sunup the sun is due east and tomorrow at sunset it is
due west, so you can calibrate your timepiece. It might also be fun to
get naked and do some sort of dancing and singing at sunup, party all
day, and then do something debauched at sunset.
