Allan, I had the same problem with my SDL and it turned out to be a melted
fuse holder in the fuse box. The 300D can also have this problem.

S&H.

the blower motor brushes.
If it responds favorably to bumps, or to kicking it
under the dash, then it's brushes. (Or worse.)
The brushes are pushed by a spring at the other end.
That's where the failure starts. Either they

I had the same idea this morning... and no, it does not run with 12V
applied directly to the leads.

I would first put 12 volts to the blower to see it the fan works. If it does
then its something else if no go then pull it out.

Thanks for posting, good to have. Might pull it apart and have a look at
it, and give it a good clean. I'm a big fan of dielectric grease. I do
EVERY connection on my old porsche every few years, paying special attention
to all the grounds. Never had an electrical problem in 20 years. Good

To answer my own question, looks like there is (was) a nice write-up at
diymbrepair.com. Anyone know who ran that domain? It's not active any

Can anyone point me to a how-to on resoldering the pushbuttons on my
ACC? It finally got to the point today where slapping the side of the
console will not keep the fan running.
I have the ACC with the horizontal buttons and the vertical fan speed
buttons, with a narrow translucent "auto" button
