Come on over to Iowa, dude. No inspections, no questions, just pick-ups with
glass packs.

Uhh, yea, it might but shoulnt be too long. That car is still on the
trailer, will probably replace that fuel pump tomorrow(wanted to do that
while its on the trailer and easy to get to) so I can move it off the
trailer to go pick up the 380.

Michigan was that way, too. As a friend of mine put it once, "if it has
a VIN, you can register it."
Florida had in the 70's a elaborate inspection system, like an assembly line
with dyno and what not.
The abolished this and don't have any vehicle inspection. If you get pulled
over, the Trooper gives you one and failing results in a hefty fine.

If that doesn't work, you might check the ignition timing (which you might
do anyway before removing the cat). Severly retarded timing
No smoke at all except the first few minutes it initially started. Not
enough to cause any damage though. Will probably removed the thing
since its now a euro anyways.

Could be an ignition problem -- the unburned fuel will burn in the
catalytic converter. I'd expect lots of black smoke in that case, though.
