So Mythbusters did a Demolition Derby Special which is awesome. I think its
season 7 episode 1.
In one of the myths they're testing to see if you can drive a car through a
camper trailer like in Mad Max. For that one they use a w201, looks like a
gasser but there aren't real good tail shots.
Did they use a trailer that would have been suitably old looking around 1980ish
when Mad Max was filmed?
Construction may have become stronger since then.
Mitch.

I agree, they used to be 1 X 1 1 X 0.5 skeletons covered by an
aluminum skin.
Thanks,

on
the far side of the trailer so the car jumped up into the trailer, shot
through, and landed on the near side.

I suspect a tow behind trailer from the '70s is quite like today, AFAIK
they're all a wooden framed structure on a metal base. Theres a guy not far
from me who was, when metals
yes, I saw that the other day, I very rarely watch that show anymore,
just got burned out on it, but I did see that portion of that particular
show. Yes, its a gasser, looked pretty decent too.

They didnt do there busting that way, they just put it straight into
the side, which of course would not have worked. They needed to have
ramped it up to get the real test of the myth.

But the myth wasn't that the car couldn't have jumped through the trailer...
Watch the movie clip, theres no reason for the car in question to be airborne.

Not at all, the myth was that you could drive a car through a camper trailer.
You cannot just drive through you need to jump...

I just watched Mad Max the other night and remember that scene well! I
bought the DVD ages ago and just opened it up to watch it. A total classic.
