White lithium grease has no business in wheel bearings to begin with because it won't hold up to wheel bearing temperature. The soap base will liquify and the oil will go away! This is why the bearings were loose on both sides and you are lucky that a bearing did not sieze up! The correct wheel

Outer races are easy. Feel around the inside of the hub, where the inside of the race ends you will find 2 indents. Use a copper or brass punch hammer to walk the the race out from the other end. Then place the new race in the hub, set the old race on top of the new race use it a hammer to

Does one hafta RR the antenna and the extension mechanism to RR the antenna fender grommet on an '87 300D? No direct experience, but in everything else (126, 107, 201) you have to pull the antenna mechanism down into the trunk to change the grommet. -- Jim

The original Smart car got 60 - 70 mpg with the Diesel engine. That's what got me excited about it. However, they have no plans to sell the Diesel version in the US, and the original model is out of production now. I've lost all interest. I'm very happy with the 33 - 35 I get in the 2.5 turbos.

Yes. Lower antenna, remove liner (this is a real pain) enough to get to the single 10 mm screw that holds it in. Pull antenna motor and mast down to get it out of the grommet. Remove outer piece if it's still on there, push grommet down through hole. It will usually break up, if not, use
