Rust, and cosmetic condition are all on a R107. Everything else can
be dealt with. That's a last-year 380, and so all weaknesses have been
addressed. Could be a very nice deal. Mine had fuel pump relay and
soft top issues. Likely much of the middle-aged
If it needs a battery and tires it's probably been sitting a while.
Fuel system might need cleaning, plan on changing all fluids.

Same here. Unless there’s a VMI that showed the dealer did it recently, I swap
fluids and filters out on every new to me vehicle so I have a baseline.

Single-row chain disappeared in '83, that's the crossover year.
An '85 will be fine.
Valve stem seals could be an issue, but those are DIY replaceable.

Grand touring, so not a sports car, but a joy to drive. I compare it to the
OM606 w124, an almost sporty sedan with restrained power. New seats makes for
easy two tank trips (450-500 mile) with no saddle soreness. Soft top is
expensive to renew, so that is a large plus. Both indicate to me
