Yeah, and the Vets list (www.mb-veterans.com) is moribund as well.

I was fully involved with the old MBCA lists, and was ashamed of how a

several
other good guys, I was happy that someone picked up the challenge to
keep
 a few nets going.

But you are correct, when things crashed, it got kind of lonesome, and I
really appreciate you taking the challenge. What I didn't know was how
things had transitioned from the days of Richard Sexton to now, mainly
because I had to drop off for a couple of long periods due to medical
and
 other issues.

I do have a concern though that with too many sub nets, that we may be
losing out on the social and technical aspects of a larger group. From
what
I can see, there may be lots of lurkers, but there is no way to know
which
net to send out a question for a particular interest. That may just be
a
lack of my own understanding, or perhaps a realization that there are
more
nets that need to be monitored (and to be careful of using in
response?).

Anyway, Happy New Year, and keep smiling. Enjoy the winter weather,
which
you folks in the plains have been nice enough to keep away from the East

What are you wanting to know? How the lists came to be? Here is the
short version. There was the dave lefarber list which still exists but
has no traffic. People got tired of Cookies over there flaming everyone
etc so that is when the Ritter/Easley list started. At the same time
there was the official MBCA list which Kathy ran. The ritter list
turned into a dictatorship basically, as it still is. Stu and easley
started kicking people off for no good reason really. When he kicked
Richard Sexton, Gary Hurst, and myself off, that is when mbz.org was
formed. People started flocking there to get away from the ritter/easly
list. It was a very sucessful list. Rusty entered the picture later
on. That went on for a couple of years then I started admin some of the
lists, then almost all of the lists there. A couple of years ago, after
several crashes, they crashed and burned to never return it seemed. I
started striplin.net and moved all the subscriber lists over there as a
temp measure to keep the lists going till Richard could get mbz.org
fixed again. Well that never happened so I then created okiebenz.com to
be the permenant home of the lists. There you have the short version.

I am aware and dismayed about how the original technical (and leader's list)
net that had more or less the blessings of MBCA were summarily closed in the
Saturday Night Massacre, and how Kathy Kennel (RIP) did her best to keep
some civility in the succeeding mbz nets. But it appears that there are now
a plethora of nets, that IMO have reduced the content we used to have -
where a lot of technical issues arose daily, and usually 6 or more responses
appeared almost within hours.

So what historical events have I missed??
