Good used visors are getting scarce. I purchased a blue mirror insert and it works fine, although the visor is now thicker and therefore won't fold up as high s it used to. [MBZ] sun visors
My new 240D has the lighted vanity mirrors, both of which are broken. I have started looking for replacements and have noticed sellers selling just the vanity mirror section and not the whole visor. I have never really paid much attention to these before but can just the center part be replaced? How is it removed and held in? I tried it out, 87 and later W201 visors DO have the telescoping feature just like W124s. I can't believe I never realized it before. I take back most of what I said about stock mercedes visors being crap, and I'm going to put my Rosen visor in the Volvo 745 and keep with stock visors in the Benz from now on! My favorite feature about a telescoping visor is that you can use it to block the wind from your ear when driving at high speed on the freeway with the windows down. I cant believe this feature is not listed in the owners manuals anywhere, at least I didnt see it. What? Never read the owner's manual? ;^) I had a visit from John Robbins earlier, and he showed me something on 124's that in 15 years I did not know. If you detach it from the clip, it will pull straight out from its pivot area to extend it. Both my 124s ('86 and '87) do it. On the driver's side of the '87
it's jammed though, will only come out if you give it a superhuman
yank. Can't figure out what would make it hang up in there. I'm
afraid to try to lube it since I don't know what the inside of the
sunshade is made of---could be plastic, or could be cardboard that
will get soft or disintegrate in the presence of grease or oil.

Page 48 in my '91 126 manual; page 44 in my '87 124 manual: Heading SUN VISORS; To shield sun from the side, unclip the visor and turn it to the side; in this position it will also slide backward and forward.
