That's exactly the car that I was thinking is right for Snook - mine was green
with a tqan interior - hated the color, but loved driving it until rust and a
drunk driver took it.

My Uncle Al’s W115 1976 300D was the car that gave me the Dieselitis bug that
will be with me until my dying day. They are getting very hard to find in any
condition, especially those that are drivable. There is one up in WA on
Craigslist. I’ll post a link to the ad if I can find it.

it because I don't use it much and it is taking up half of my garage.
But then, I drive it, and I come away thinking how great
LOL, I need a garage before I once again venture into the realm of vintage
Mercedes. I don't want to run another one into the ground.
I've got a plan to add a carport onto my existing garage which needs a roof
anyway. Maybe next year...

And a further failure mode is an ALDA that is broken / leaks off the boost so
fast that it does little good or no good at all. On the early 124 cars, the
ALDA can be taken apart and resealed with fresh O-rings, perhaps your 123 car
is the same.

On the driver's side firewall there is a switchover valve inline in the
tube that goes from the manifold to the ALDA. Make sure the rubber bits
that connect the hard lines to the switchover valve are airtight.
Otherwise the ALDA will not see the boost pressure and will not inject
enough fuel.

a car that runs and drives for $2,000 anymore. $1500 car
and cleaning it out.
