I would first test the glow plugs.

Then make sure the big fuse is good.

The controller is likely repairable - but you may have to be
determined.  Being familiar with electronic repair would be an
advantage.

Or put in a used one.

I have a dead one sitting here that I have been meaning to open up but 
have not done that yet.  At worst you can open that one up and see if it 
is broken, burned out, dirty, etc. and either clean it up/fix it or junk it.

I had a failed relay in a Nissan years back, by passed it so it was old 
school push button to glow.

That is a drastic and cheap solution.

Yes my 240D  (now curt's) has a push button for GP's. I kind of liked it.
Reminded me of late 49's early 50's starter buttons.

First check everything else, like battery connections, grounds, etc.
Relay buzzing is a common symptom when there is nearly zero juice
available where it is needed.  Includes GP fuse for crackage.

A meter is the _first_ step whenever things start to go wrong 
electrically.


Is there any way to repair these things, as a new replacement is 
rather pricey?  TIA


They can be resoldered, often.
